Hi! So today, I made a couple of dishes, nothing too fancy, very french of course. I made Escalope de Veau à la creme ( Veal scallops in a cream sauce) with Navets braisés (Braised turnips). To start off with, I blanched some quartered turnips for 5 minutes. Then, I placed them in a pan with some butter and stock and boiled covered for about 30 minutes.
After that I fried the veal scallops in some very hot butter and oil for a minute a side. Then I removed them from the pan and added some shallots. Next, after they cooked for about a minute, I put in some stock and some vermouth and… I found it! the missing piece of the knife! it was in the stock box, but we just couldn’t see it, but we defrosted it and found it. So anyway, I boiled it down until it had reduced by about half, then I poured in some cream and some cornflour mixed with water and boiled until thick. After that, in a separate pan, I sauteed some mushrooms in butter. Then I placed the mushroom in the sauce, the meat in the mushrooms and the lid on the pan and reheated for 5 minutes. It was really good, the sauce like always was great, the turnips didn’t cook entirely evenly but all in all it was tasty.
So that was nice, I’m liking this challenge, I’m trying to blog more often and more regularly so don’t kill me please! Anyway, I gotta go because I’ve just been bitten by a duck, bye!
