Food: Me and Linus’ Paignton crab and pea purée was sublime! It also had a mango and dashi sorbet – when I saw it on the menu i was like “really?” – which was nice, I see how it would work! Mum’s pork cheek was OK, all sticky and tender. It also had a horseradish ‘risotto’, smoked pancetta and some lovely and crispy shallots which were all great. Dad’s Brixham lobster was OK, it had heritage tomatoes (TASTELESS ALERT!) and a green tomato jelly. A bit disappointing really (the lobster that is).
My stone bass was good but the risotto wasn’t great. Dad and Linus’ duck was copacetic; it had a great ‘leg croquette’ and carrots, beetroot and pak choi. Mums hake was good, but the squid was un-noticable and the onion and bacon wasn’t to call home about. The kale and the dauphinoise potatoes was both awesome.
We had a good selection of local cheeses.
Service: Good
Atmosphere: Great
Little Bits That Are Nice: The view is amazing
Quirky Bits: ‘Duck Island’ soap in the toilets
Bad Bits: Rien
