Food: I’m so often disappointed by carpaccio, they’re almost never paper thin, they are so often a couple of millimeters! But this one was sublime! Carpaccio of ox was my starter. Less than a millimeter thick just like it should be! With parmesan, rocket and lots of oil, perfect! Dads Sopa de Fiesta (fiesta soup) was great, they brought a big metal dish half full of soup and a bowl! There must have been 3 bowl fulls. It was a nice rich stock with tapioca lumps and shredded meat, pretty good! Mums pear and ham salad was nice, lots of lettuce and tomatoes as well, but not enough ham, and a bit too big. But all in all it was good. Off to a good start! Next I had octopus cooked in miso with some white rice, it was ok, but if i was to cook octopus, I would boil it with white wine and shallots. And rice isn’t particularly healthy and it was unnecessary. Dads deer was great, it was flambéd in cognac – dad didn’t think it was necessary but I think it really complimented it, what do you guys think? Flambéd or not? – But it was just meat, nothing else, which could be a downside for some people, but not for me or the Spanish (that’s just their cuisine)! Now mums main, the star of the show, pig trotters! So much pig fat!!! Mmmmm! 😁😄😃😀 literally a massive plate of 12 pig trotters (roughly). Mostly fat with a tiny bit of meat, I just couldn’t get enough of it! Plus, when we went to get the bill, there was a man at a table, in one hand a piece of bread and in the other a trotter, and a pile of fat in his mouth! Mum wasn’t too keen though. Then, I had a carrot cake with chocolate cake on top (pretty darn good) and mum and dad had a kind of grainy custard (not great tbh), both homemade, but dad had a plan, a good one! Use the sickly sweet custard as a sauce for the carrot cake, and it really worked! Then mum and dad had a nice cafe solo.
Service: good, very friendly and nice and paced
Atmosphere: GREAT, very hard to find, so only people who want to eat will go there (theres no passing trade)
Quirky bits: all the tables are mad from solid stone, legs and all
Little bits that are nice: in the mountains
Bad bits: rien du tout!

Hi great review although it sounds as if you ate a zoo and an aquarium between you ! Like the sound of carrot cake and custard – might try that – the pigs trotter bit made me feel a bit queezy but always good to hear you haven’t lost your extraordinary appetites X Suki
