Today didn’t exactly go to plan. Camembert Quiche with Shortcrust Pastry were the recipes. Remember the aforementioned ‘Hot Mess’? Well, if you make a prophecy it will most likely be fulfilled!
EN: It all started with the shortcrust pastry. The first attempt failed. I was using spelt flour and it doesn’t react like normal flour. So that makes following recipes hard. Too wet. In the bin, retry. Don’t add any water and it kinda works (kinda). Too much butter. It just makes it hard to work with. Tasty, but disastrous.
And now the filling. Camembert quiche filling cant be that hard, can it? And to that I say … you’re absolutely right. But I still managed to muck it up. It went well to begin with. I followed the recipe and it was great. But it was only once it was in the oven that I realised … well … I FORGOT TO PUT EGGS IN THE QUICHE. I know. 10 hail Marys later and I ended up with a tasty hot mess. ON THE SECOND DAY.
I seriously don’t know how I managed to muck up something as simple as a quiche, but I did. So I’ll be redoing it for Thursday lunch. But anyway, see you tomorrow!
