Okay … are you ready for another challenge? Haven’t you already tried (and failed) a vegan week? To that I say yes, but I have re-tried it since (without blogging, sadly, cos I forgot) and succeeded.
But this one is different. I can’t fail, I won’t allow myself to fail, I have been preparing for it, and it’s so crazy it’ll have to stick. Have any of you seen the film ‘Julie and Julia’ with Meryl Streep in? No? Ok, but I have, so bear with me. My challenge is to cook the 524 recipes from Julia Child’s book ‘Mastering The Art Of French Cooking’ in one year. You heard me. 524 recipes in 365 days. (Come to think of it, I should have done it in a leap year so I get an extra day 😉 )
So, the rules are fairly simple. I have to cook all the recipes in the time provided. They don’t have to be perfectly made, but I have to understand the recipe and see where I went wrong (if I go wrong) and what she’s trying to do. So basically, if I have a hot mess of a dish I have to redo it.
For any of you wanting to do it too, I used some of the more obvious variations to fill it up to 524. If you don’t do this you’re left with about 400 recipes, and if you try to do them all they add up to about 2000. So just do what you feel, really.
One more thing before you go, you may notice the reviews are no longer on the front page, but if you look to the right, in the side bar, there’s a button saying ‘Click here to read my reviews’. This is temporary (maybe; if I like it I’ll keep it) so they will be coming back to the front page after the year.
Also (last thing I promise 🙂 ) I will be posting a blog post of what I cooked in that day and how it went EVERY DAY so be sure to check in EVERY DAY. That’s not an obligation just an “It would be really nice if you did and I’d appreciate the extra view and the fact that I’m infecting your time with food based chat”.
So anyway, I’ll see you again tonight (if you want) but right now I gotta get cooking (there’s a stock pot on the stove smelling gooood and I gotta tend to it) so I’ll say goodbye for now!
