Food: well, to begin the white chocolate and foie gras doughnuts are interesting but all in all they were a travesty, the sunflower seed crackers were quite nice – I wonder how they did them- and the ‘mushroom cream’ was very mushroomy usually these things aren’t, the oil with the bread was really good oil, now moving on to starter, nice but just prawns really.the main course was really nice. it was mainly pigeon. Stuffing balls with a main course? Weird but a good idea. I love the aubergine purée it’s just right smokey and delicious and I’m usually not a fan of aubergine, my desert was the work of a mad man! Great though, dads desert was plain old chocolate but his ice cream had cloves, too many though, and mums was interesting it had a mystery alcohol in a zingy ginger cake
Atmosphere: good.
Service: very good
Little bits that are nice: (proper linen tablecloths etc): love the idea of having it in cellar, there was a ring on the ceiling and that looked cool
Quirky touches: Little quirky lights on the wall and with a few of them if you look at them from an angle they look like a video camera. With the prawns the waiter gave us tiny cloths in finger bowls and and then poured water on and then they grew – they must have been dehydrated.
Bad bits: the whole restaurant smelt of lemon scented cleaning fluid at the end.
Very good well done
